Overview

Sync Back retrieves a snapshot from the destination cluster to the source cluster, enabling a local restore from that snapshot.

Initiate a Sync Back

The following steps must be performed on the source cluster.

From the Top Menu, click Backup / DR -> Outgoing Syncs

Select the desired outgoing sync

From the left menu, click View

From the left menu, click Remote Snaps

Select the desired snapshot

From the left menu, click Request

Retention - will default to 3 days: change be changed as desired. (Changing the retention period here does not affect the retention in place for the snapshot on the destination cluster.)

Priority - 0-9 can be specified. Lower numbers will sync before higher numbers. (This option is only relevant when multiple sync backs are initiated.)

(Optional), Prefix - can be added to the snapshot name in order to clearly distinguish it from other snapshots.

Click Submit

The dashboard for the configured sync-back (Incoming Sync) is displayed. A log entry indicates when the sync begins, and another is generated upon completion showing statistics.

The retrieved snapshot can be accessed by selecting the Received Snapshots count box on this page. From the snapshot list, choose a snapshot to access options for restoring the entire local system or individual VMs contained within it.
